Not everyone is lucky enough to have a sprawling living room. Most need to be creative with their use of space and storage to put every possible inch to work. Here are some tips to help maximize your living room space without giving up the style.
Use Mirrors to Create the Illusion of Space
Mirrors are probably the best tool in the space making tool box, as they reflect the light instantly adding brightness Use large, floor mirrors to completely open up the room and make it feel larger.
Use Vertical Space
Instead of wasting valuable floor space, use the walls and build your space up. There are entire walls of wasted space. Use that dead space wisely and make it work for your room.
Use Smaller, Lighter Furniture
When you styling a small space, instead of overstuffed sofas and chairs, opt for a lighter seating alternative. One that takes up less space and causes less clutter.
Draw the Eye Up
By adding large artwork a tall floor lamp, or vertical stripes to draw the eye up. This creates the illusion of space and makes the room feel taller and loftier.
Double Duty Furniture
Choose furniture pieces that can be used for more than one purpose. These nesting tables are a perfect alternative to multiple pieces placed around the room. When more table space is needed pull them out, otherwise they are hidden away out of site.
Glass or acrylic furniture will allow for free sight lines through the room. Less obstructions means less clutter.
