Top ten closet organization tips

  1. Extra shelves
When thinking about reorganizing your closet consider adding extra shelves for clothes such as sweaters and jeans. This will free up space on your clothes rail.
  2. Use all the space
There’s often wasted space at the top and bottom of your wardrobe. Make sure to use the space whether it is by adding hooks, racks or shelves.
  3. Get creative with shoe racks
Fill the bottom of your closet with show racks. You can buy racks or build your own using rails that extend across the bottom for your heels to hook on to.
  4. Separate your work clothes from casual clothes
There’s two main sets of clothes we wear, work and casual. Separate these in your closet to make them easy to find.
  5. Sort colours
If you are a visual person then consider arranging your attire in to colours.
  6. Boxes
Use boxes to store awkward items such as scarves. Place them on shelves or racks to use the space.
  7. Seasons
Create space by packing you out of season clothes in to storage.
  8. Out of the closet
If your closet is just too full then invest in some chests, ottomans, boxes etc. to use. They make great interior décor pieces and are practical.
  9. Shop around
Take a look around for organization solutions. Stores such as IKEA are a great place to look for ideas.
  10. Be practical
Don’t do something so crazy with your organising that you will never be able to keep it tidy. Think practical and have fun.
